Role
Colby has many contacts in the furniture industry that needed shop drawings for their custom furniture projects. He connected me with these furniture makers and I use Fusion 360 to design, model, and create drawings for their projects.
Approach
The key to drawing useful shop drawings is to understand both the capabilities of the shop and the format that they are used to. I worked with furniture makers to tailor designs and drawings to their needs. I take furniture concepts (image, description, basic sketches/models) and turn them into manufacturable pieces of furniture, including proper joints, fasteners, and materials, while thinking through how the components will be assembled. Fusion 360 is my preferred software to do modeling, rendering, and drawing generation.
